Virtual Clinical Consultation Group

for therapists that work with Queer, Kinky, and Ethically Non-monogamous Folks

As a member of all three of these groups and a therapist who has been serving them for over 10 years, finding informed providers to consult with has been a challenge. These groups are socially and legally marginalized and are currently experiencing their basic human rights being stripped away from them.

With such complex experiences of trauma that result in significantly higher rates of self-harm and suicidality, the lack of these groups is concerning. Which is exactly why I created this space.

Guiding Principles

1.) The voices, knowledge, feelings, and experiences of people of color will be prioritized. People of color have historically been excluded from discussions and research within the field of mental health.

2.) The voices, knowledge, feelings, and experiences of trans and gender-expansive folks will be prioritized. These folks have historically been pathologized and excluded from discussions and research within the field of mental health.

3.) We will not fragilize our clients. We believe our clients are capable, not fragile, and fully capable of change; AND that failures can occur until awareness and skills are practiced and internalized.

4.) We recognize that our patients are doing the best they can and want to improve.

5.) We prioritize effectiveness in outcomes and evidence-based treatments in our practice.

6.) Centering the experience of clinicians who are active members of the marginalized groups we work with is critical to the work.

7.) All relationships deserve the same respect, regardless of orientation or configuration.

8.) People with disabilities and mental illness have a right to intimacy.

9.) Violence in any form (physical, verbal, and emotional) will not be tolerated.

10.) There is no shame in anyone’s sexualities and we will not yuck anyone’s yum.

11.) Being an ally is not an identity, it is a continuous action.
